Job Description

As Senior Strategic Account Manager for Japan Global Solutions (JGS) in the U.S., you will deliver customized strategic account advisory services with subject matter experts. Work closely with Japanese multinational companies, Aon leadership, and colleagues across solution lines to drive revenue growth and deepen relationships with U.S.-based Japanese corporations.

This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work virtually, with a strong preference for candidates who can commute to the Chicago office.

What the Day Will Look Like

You will focus on strategic account management and business growth for U.S. Japanese business at Aon. You will frequently interact with clients' risk and financial leadership (e.g., CEO, CFO, Risk Manager, Finance Manager) as well as Aon's Account Service Teams.

  • Serve as a bilingual professional for U.S.-based Japanese multinational clients and prospects, building trusted relationships with U.S. & Japanese executive / collaborators.
  • Advise clients on risk management and insurance program optimization strategy, including program structure, coverage design, market approach, placement, risk control and claims management solutions aligned to both group entity business needs and regional headquarters expectations.
  • Lead complex renewals and new business opportunities, coordinating internal Account Executives, Brokers, Producers and Risk Consultants, engaging insurers strategically, and delivering tailored solutions that support strong client retention and growth.
  • Boost revenue performance for the U.S. Japanese business market by expanding relationships, and leading major pursuits, including Requests for Proposals and other growth initiatives.
  • Partner with practice, specialty, and geographic leaders to assemble Best of Aon teams and deliver integrated solutions across Risk Capital and Human Capital capabilities.
  • Coordinate across North America, APAC, EMEA, and LATAM to deliver a seamless global client experience and mobilize Aon resources in response to complex client needs.
  • Strengthening Aon's presence within the Japanese business community.
  • Promote JGS internally by enhancing multinational business knowledge, supporting collaboration across teams, and helping colleagues better serve Japanese clients through insight, connectivity, and shared market intelligence.
  • Listen and share clients' voice with JGS leadership to brush up growth plan and implement it by aligning with Aon's strategic focuses on Japanese business growth.

  • Direct engagement with Aon leaders and specialists and geographies, enabling an integrated “Aon United” approach for clients with complex multinational client needs.

Skills and Experience That Will Lead to Success

  • Must have bilingual proficiency in native-level Japanese and business-level English, both spoken and written.
  • 10 years+ of account management / client leadership experience in the insurance industry with:
  • Insurance broker with focus on Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance and/or
  • P&C insurance carrier
  • Experience to work with multinational corporations ideally in a dedicated Japanese business segment.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing account strategies, driving revenue growth within a portfolio of corporate clients.
  • Strong complex project management skills, including coordination of multi-stakeholder teams and management of large or multinational P&C programs.
  • Ability to navigate cross-cultural environments, build trust with external and internal stakeholders, and communicate technical insurance concepts with clients & prospects in a clear, culturally appropriate manner.
  • Willingness to acquire a Property & Casualty and Health & Life license within 90 days of employment (Aon pays for training materials and exam).

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $140,000 - $160,000 USD annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
