Job Description
Aon is looking for an AMATS Business Development Project Manager
Aon is seeking an AMATS Business Development Project Manager (PM) to support the growth of Aon's North America M&A and Transaction Solutions business. This hire will work directly for the AMATS Chief Commercial Officer to help build and carry out the AMATS commercial strategy. This role will combine project management, sales support, analytics, reporting, collaboration with partners, and go-to-market assistance to accelerate growth across private equity, corporate M&A, portfolio solutions, and advisor channels. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytically strong, commercially curious, and capable of turning strategic priorities into focused action across a complex, matrixed organization.
Operating where business, data, technology, marketing, and sales intersect, the AMATS Business Development Project Manager is key to the AMATS CCO's efforts. This position focuses on converting commercial priorities into defined project plans, regular operating cycles, enablement resources, reporting, and quantifiable growth projects. The person will aid in implementing AMATS growth strategies, including client and prospect targeting, whitespace discovery, relationship mapping, sales oversight, pipeline tracking, playbook creation, advisor channel engagement, and go-to-market activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the AMATS CCO and leadership team in translating the North America commercial strategy into actionable growth initiatives, go-to-market plans, and responsibilities assigned to collaborators across private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, corporate strategic buyers, and M&A advisor channels.
- Collaborate with AMATS leadership and originators to identify, assess, and promote growth opportunities throughout the distribution network.
- Help coordinate short- and long-term commercial priorities across Transaction Solutions, Transaction Advisory Services, and portfolio-related offerings.
Business Development, Tools & Operating Cadence
- Establish and maintain a steady commercial operating rhythm with AMATS leadership, originators, sales leaders, and relevant cross-functional partners.
- Coordinate preparation for pipeline reviews, growth planning discussions, business reviews, and commercial leadership meetings.
- Produce, coordinate, and upkeep AMATS business development resources — including playbooks, collateral, training content, onboarding materials, communications, and platform-based tools such as Deal Cloud, Aon Connect, and Pitchbook — to boost sales focus, accountability, and adoption.
Client Targeting, Research & Analytics
- Conduct client, market, industry, whitespace, and advisor-channel research to support prospecting, client prioritization, relationship mapping, and targeted engagement strategies.
- Develop recurring reports, dashboards, and executive-ready insights that improve access to pipeline data, client targeting, growth initiatives, account performance, progress on important metrics, and commercial impact.
- Analyze data to support account prioritization, resource allocation, revenue growth opportunities, and enablement impact measurement while maintaining strong attention to accuracy and detail.
Project Management, Governance & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Manage commercial projects from planning through execution by developing clear workplans, timelines, deliverables, ownership models, and scalable ways of working.
- Coordinate AMATS leadership, originators, marketing, finance, technology, sales enablement, solution lines, shared services, and global/cross-border partners to align priorities and ensure progress.
- Support commercial governance and process improvement efforts, including pipeline rigor, pricing coordination, approval workflows, exception tracking, process changes, and operating model consistency.
- Partner with Finance and AMATS leadership to support access to revenue, margin, and commercial performance.
Skills and Experience That Will Lead to Success:
- More than 3 years of experience in project coordination, sales support, sales operations, business development assistance, marketing, analytics, or a similar commercial function.
- Experience supporting senior leaders and cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
- Outstanding project management capability with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities, interested parties, and timelines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft clear executive-level updates, presentations, and business summaries.
- Solid analytical skills, including experience working with spreadsheets, business reporting, CRM data, pipeline information, and large data sets.
- High level of collaborator management skills with the ability to build trust and credibility across commercial, marketing, technology, finance, and client-facing teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience with CRM, sales analytics, reporting, or sales enablement platforms preferred.
- Broker license or willingness to obtain one preferred.
Education
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, ideally in business, finance, economics, statistics, marketing, or a related field.
What Success Looks Like
- AMATS commercial priorities are converted into clear project plans, operating rhythms, and measurable action plans.
- The AMATS CCO and leadership team have improved access to pipeline, client targeting, growth initiatives, reporting, and partner accountability.
- Sales enablement tools, playbooks, training materials, and commercial resources are organized, current, and actively used by relevant teams.
- AMATS growth initiatives are supported with strong research, analytics, project rigor, and cross-functional coordination.
- Collaborators experience clear communication, timely delivery, and scalable commercial support.
- The AMATS commercial strategy becomes more structured, data-informed, and consistently accomplished across priority client segments and channels.
