Your impact as an Account Specialist I

The Account Specialist I will work with colleagues on assigned accounts, managing key processes that serve clients (including complex clients) and undertaking the client-facing and internal activities related to these processes. Account Specialists will also work with our Brokers as necessary, particularly on Commercial Risk business within the transportation and logistics sector.

The Account Specialist's role includes:

  • Partnering with colleagues to create and execute a strategy to meet our clients' risk management needs
  • Interacting directly with our clients to provide day-to-day support for their insurance needs
  • Maintaining records of our clients' insurance programs and transactions
  • Using our databases and systems to create client outputs and invoices
  • Participating in creation of presentations and proposals
  • Developing subject matter expertise in transportation and logistics risk and insurance
  • Assisting with special projects as assigned

What the day will look like

  • Maintains effective and positive relationships with clients; serves independently in a client-facing capacity on matters of moderate importance and complexity.
  • Performs submission assembly/creation where assigned and facilitates the timely and accurate flow of information between clients and account team members.
  • Handles client open items lists and responds to client ad-hoc requests.
  • Gathers and analyzes data and drafts assigned elements of stewardship reports and other compelling presentations tailored to the needs of the audience.
  • Actively supports and monitors the renewal process, including drafting quote comparisons and following up for binders, policies, and endorsements.
  • Where applicable, serves as the primary point of contact with Aon Client Services (ACS), coordinating activities of the client service team and ACS to ensure that key processes are performed optimally and client deliverables are high quality.
  • Acts as the primary collaborator with Premium Accounting on client billing matters.
  • Receives and manages routine and complex coverage inquiries and endorsement requests.
  • Serves as key client liaison for items such as certificates, auto IDs, location additions, invoices, Workers' Compensation posting notices, allocations, premium finance agreements, summaries of insurance, and policy transmittals.
  • Monitors and follows up on invoice generation, fee agreements, receivables, and collections, and helps resolve related issues.
  • May provide guidance and mentoring to a less senior account specialist; may delegate work to support staff and ACS where applicable.
  • Understands and works in alignment with the Aon Leadership Model and its pillars of Client Value, Unmatched Teams, Innovation, Results, and Values.
  • Understands best practices and leverages available resources, including centers of excellence (COEs) and Aon Client Services.
  • Ensures tools, systems, and databases are understood and used effectively.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Skills and qualifications that will help you be successful in this role

  • 1+ years of related insurance, transportation industry, or relevant business experience
  • Property & Casualty broker's license strongly preferred, or obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills with an ability to multi-task and prioritize workload with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent digital literacy, including working experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); intermediate to expert proficiency preferred
  • Team-oriented self-starter, with ability to organize, prioritize, monitor and control workflow deadlines and remain flexible
  • Experience supporting complex clients is preferred
  • Relevant combination of education and experience

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree preferred

Pay Transparency Laws

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $45,000 – $55,000. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
