Resident Sales Director
This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Houston, TX office.

What the day will look like
The Resident Sales Director will be responsible for driving growth across the entire Houston market. They are accountable to the Houston Market Leader to deliver new business goals by driving individual goal achievement, thus helping the office, region and Aon US attain aggregate sales goals. The role promotes the value Aon delivers to clients, and performs as a player/coach.
- Drive growth: Achieve or exceed the office's quarterly and annual new business revenue goals;
- Support the execution of the National Sales and Marketing platform and initiatives;
- Lead all aspects of the development and ongoing implementation and quarterly updates of actionable annual Individual and Office sales and marketing plans;
- Develop and maintain a sales-focused culture;
- Maintain an accurate, detailed pipeline of new business development for confident revenue forecasting and relevant sales metric analysis;
- Monitor and assess ongoing new business results and related pipeline activity tracking across the team, and promptly anticipate and address negative new business variances or trends and/or activity issues;
- Forecast new business monthly and quarterly with accuracy;
- Mentor and develop, problem-solve and strategize with local Producers, Account Executives, and Broking leaders to build, develop and close specific revenue opportunities;
- Maintain a fair marketplace in terms of prospect allocation across the office and firm's resources and follow protocols for pipeline documentation and production credit disputes;
- Build, tailor and/or implement marketing campaigns including email campaigns, mailings, seminars, webinars, seminars, roundtables and forums to drive revenue opportunities tailored to new business priorities and market area(s);
- Educate Producers, Account Executives, and Broking leaders on new products, approaches, services and solutions and Aon's capabilities and thought leadership with training on the segment or client applicability and recommended dialoguing with clients and prospects;
- Work with the Account Executive leader to ensure that clients and prospects receive regular written communication applicable to their business(es), exposures and needs;
- Proactively and consistently communicate and meet with clients, prospects, insurers, and competitors to maintain a current knowledge of marketplace talent;
- Recruit and present recommendations and business plans for Producers, Account Executives and support teams to facilitate maximum office production;
- Onboard Producers with a clear understanding of their role and responsibilities and specified sales goals, and training on Salesforce.com, Aon's office, national and global resources and systems;
- Identify and champion focus centers of influence in the accounting, legal, financial and other segments of the business community in the local market areas for office-wide teamwork and referral;
- Ensure that Aon has earned a majority of its large clients' risk management, and, where applicable, employee benefits, wallet or spend;
- Communicate innovative approaches, standard processes, market and competitor trends nationally.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Minimum 10 years of sales leadership and marketing experience in related field
- Solid collaboration skills enabling candidate to successfully lead global new business teams in pursuit of target prospects
- Strong negotiation skills
- Outstanding oral presentation skills and ability to clearly articulate complex messages in written form
- Track record of personally initiating complex sales
- Consistent achievement of assigned territorial or practice business goals
- Active involvement in the development and maintenance of a productive sales and marketing culture
- Energy industry experience strongly preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with sales and risk management/business related curriculum preferred

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $200-$250K annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive production incentives in addition to base salary. The amount of any production incentives varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
This position is eligible to participate in Aon's Sales Leader Compensation Incentive Plan which provides a target bonus based on your office's sales budget, and also provides an incentive for your personal production subject to the terms of the Plan, in addition to base salary. The estimated total compensation range for this position, including salary and any applicable bonus or incentives, is $300K to $500K annually depending on market size, market performance, and individual performance. The actual amount of any bonuses or production incentives varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
