Job Summary:

The Operational Risk Manager - Independent Agency channel leads the strategic initiative to provide operational risk and return expertise to National General, an Allstate Company. This role is responsible for implementing and influencing the Operational Risk and Return Management (ORRM) framework within Allstate Independent Agency (IA) and working with other distribution channels and departments. The ORRM framework consists of tools, standards, and risk processes through which the manager directs and assists IA to identify, assess, and mitigate risk in accordance with appetite and analyze and understand the risk environment overall. The manager will be responsible to develop a strong partnership with management and IA business expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

    Contributes andleads the strategy of the enterprises risk management program.

    Leads the implementation of the ORRM framework to optimize enterprise risk and return management strategy.

    Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including executive level presentations.

    Professional knowledge in operational risk management and its impact on IA.

    Performs operational risk assessments with business units.

    Influences the appropriate management of risk, including: monitoring, reporting, and an escalation structure to optimize risk and return.

    Reviews, researches, interprets, and analyzes operational risk data to identify trends, emerging risks, and issues.

    Integrates information and data to form hypotheses and assumptions of future impact.

    Responsible for effective independent challenge of first line risk management activities, thematic reviews and deep dives.

    Accountable to escalate and report significant issues.

    This job does not have supervisory duties. However, position may lead other risk professionals in the performance of risk assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience
Bachelors degree preferred
7 or more years of related experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Operational risk certifications (RMA, PRMIA, GARP, ERMA, IMA, ISACA, etc.) not required but encouraged
Functional Skills
Strong understanding of operational risk and governance
Experience in one or more key operational risk categories (model, business continuity, vendor, data privacy, technology, cyber, fraud), internal audit, or other operational risk area
Highly developed relationship management, influencing and leadership skills
Program/project management
Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to lead and influence across multiple levels

Compensation Data

Compensation range for this position is $91,800 - $159,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
