Job Summary
Provide a high level of technical and quantitative support to actuarial staff to achieve company objectives for profitability and growth. Assists in development of rates, rating plans, pricing strategies, product development, financial forecasting, management reporting, and other actuarial research by applying advanced statistical concepts to quantitative support. Ensures that actuarial systems and databases produce accurate and efficient data. May assist with implementing actuarial decisions and strategies. Responsible for projects requiring advanced statistical analyses, actuarial research, mathematical calculations and technical skills. May direct projects that have significant financial impact and may present to senior level management. This position works under limited supervision.

Marketing Description
This position is on the Central Booking team within the Tools and Consolidation team within BI Loss Analytics and Reserving. The role is critical for complete, accurate, and timely booking and reporting of monthly and quarterly results for all of Business Insurance & International. This role interacts closely with members of the Actuarial and Finance communities to be aware of all reserving actions and making sure they are booked, reported, and communicated appropriately.

Additionally, the team is always looking for ways to improve automation/efficiency with our processes. Therefore, during less busy periods we invest time looking for ways to make improvements. The Central Booking team relies on the following tools/applications, just to name a few. Exposure to any/all of these is a plus: Essbase cubes, SCROL tables, Dodeca, SATURN, MERCURY, LRRS, TM1, LRRF, Profit, Qlikview, Excel, SAS, SQL Server, Visual Basic.

Ideal candidates would possess a combination of Actuarial/Finance background as well as a knack for 'making things better' through use of technology.


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct analysis in support of Actuarial staff. Interprets data and identifies trends. May offer recommendations. May participate in discussions regarding underwriting strategy. Communicates results and their implications to business centers. Prepares responses to inquiries from insurance regulators. Oversees programming in Excel, Access or company software. Is a resource for complex programming issues. Participates in or is responsible for advanced projects. May presents findings to underwriting and actuarial management. Provide assistance to less experienced staff. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree or equivalent education required. 1 year analytics experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
College degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, finance, statistics or equivalent preferred. 2 years analytics experience preferred. 5+ years of insurance experience preferred. Strong understanding of accounting principles and solid understanding of financial reporting. Strong knowledge of insurance products and operations. Good understanding of insurance related models (ROE, cat modeling, etc.). Demonstrated ability in actuarial and quantitative analysis and statistical concepts. Strong project management skills. Solid understanding of regulatory environment. Effective communication skills. Excellent understanding of computers, programming, Excel spreadsheets, Word and database software.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
Working knowledge of quantitative analysis.

Physical Requirements
Operates standard office equipment. Sitting (can stand at will). Use of Keyboards, Sporadic 10-Key.
