Position Summary:

The Insurance Sales Manager (ISM) will be tasked with achieving agency revenue targets as well as meeting agency/carrier production requirements through outbound phone calls and other means of proactive sales activities. In this on-going sales management role, the (ISM) continually works with referral sources and self-generated sales opportunities to fill and maintain a sufficient sales pipeline for the sales team, in order to quote, sell, and process insurance applications that exceed monthly sales goals. The (ISM) will be expected to manage the acquisition of profitable new business, as well as the servicing of existing accounts to achieve maximum retention, compliance and profitability standards.

Qualifications:

The right individual for this position is someone who has at least 3 years of recent Property and Casualty Insurance sales experience in an independent agency environment including knowledge of agency rating platforms. This individual should also have at least 2 years of successful phone sales experience, preferably within the insurance marketplace. A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is also desirable. This individual should have a thorough understanding of the insurance sales cycle as demonstrated by Insurance industry designations such as CIC, CISR, etc. Equally as important are motivation, a desire to succeed, good communication skills and a willingness to work hard. Commercial Lines experience is a plus but not required.

Qualifications Required:

• The applicant must possess an active Property and Casualty License and be willing to acquire additional state licenses as needed • In depth knowledge of personal lines insurance products, coverage and services as typically obtained through a minimum of 3 years of direct insurance experience • Strong multi-tasking, self-management, and self-motivating skills • Thorough knowledge of agency rating systems and various carrier websites • Proven ability to adapt to a changing environment while maintaining a positive mental attitude • Strong sales skills with proven track record of demonstrated success • Proficient computer and keyboard aptitude; familiarity with basic Office applications • Some college required. Four year college or university degree preferred

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Provide superior service to our clients by promptly responding to their inquiries and addressing their individual needs on the products and services that our agency provides • In depth knowledge of personal lines insurance products, coverage and services as typically obtained through a minimum of 3 years of direct insurance experience • Support the sales producers throughout the new business process to ensure successful conclusion, and manage accounts after coverage has been bound • Fully utilize the capabilities of the agency management system including consistent and thorough documentation of all client related interactions for E&O purposes • Maintains designated retention levels for existing book of business through reviewing renewal accounts, and by conducting account review process consistent with agency guidelines • Maximizes coverage of in-force accounts through account rounding/cross selling of products and services • Actively develop account sales for assigned clients by soliciting additional policy sales in a manner consistent with our agency marketing plans • Underwrite and place individual risk situations to ensure they meet our agency’s standards and those of the companies we represent • Daily, weekly, and monthly tracking and reporting of agency production • Managing accountability of sales representatives quote volume and production • Complete applications on our client’s behalf for all Personal Lines coverage, including price quotations and comparisons, for all the companies we represent • Maintain individual customer files and process routine correspondence between our agency and the client or company, including preparing policy documents • Perform additional functions at the direction of Agency Leadership.
