General Summary: Performs functions to review, evaluate and analyze risk and coverage for commercial lines insurance while facilitating the acquisition of business that is profitable for the Company.
Essential Functions:
1. Reviews commercial lines applications for new insurance, renewal or changes and evaluates for coverage; analyzes level of risk and proceeds appropriately.
2. Maintains a schedule of productive visits to key Agency Partner offices to facilitate underwriting and sales functions.
3. Gathers, collects and compiles any additional information necessary, determines whether to approve or decline coverage and secures management approval for risks outside of authority grant.
4. Conducts inspections of potential and current insured locations to confirm acceptability of exposures and risk.
5. Uses facts and information to price commercial coverages according to relative levels of risk; develops quotes.
6. Processes applications, and notifies agent of those that are declined; maintains in contact with agents to discuss accounts for which the Company is carrying coverage.
7. Services the agency force as a main contact regarding underwriting and coverage questions; meets with agents to further build a positive relationship with the agency force and generate additional business.
8. Trains new employees and assists less experienced underwriting associates in understanding coverages and analyzing risks.
9. Performs various administrative activities to maintain records, track activities, and prepare various reports.
10. Provides input in development of new products.
11. Assists in training, or will conduct training of department associates in new or expanded roles.
12. Assists the manager in report writing and submissions.
13. Serve as a “substitute” for the manager for risk review and approval to his/her limit of authority
14. Performs other duties as assigned
