The Real Estate Investment Analyst will support the origination and execution of equity real estate investments on behalf of Assurants $11bn multi-strategy asset management group. The Analyst will report to the VP, Real Estate Investments and provide senior team members analytical support for all investment and asset management activities including acquisitions, dispositions, valuations, research, monitoring and reporting. Financial Responsibilities include:
  • Invest on behalf of a $260+ Million (equity) commercial real estate program
  • Support investments of $10-$30 million in Assurant capital per transaction on average
Primary job responsibilities include:
  • Modeling complex joint-ventures and waterfall structures in Excel for commercial and residential property types
  • Producing ARGUS cash flow projections and property valuation models for commercial and mixed-use assets
  • Gathering, analyzing and synthesizing economic, demographic and real estate market data (rents, expenses, cap rates, supply, etc)
  • Assist in the sourcing of potential investments in target markets
  • Conduct site visits and property inspections
  • Compiling and evaluating due diligence materials including market studies, leases, historical operating statements, rent rolls and property condition reports
  • Prepare investment committee memos and related supporting material
  • Support joint venture and debt negotiations
  • Coordinate all aspects of transaction closings
  • Coordinate third-party engagement including attorneys, brokers, consultants and bankers
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in real estate investments or private equity
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Finance, Accounting or Real Estate degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel), and Argus
  • Demonstrated financial analysis, writing and presentation skills
  • Extremely organized, self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently
  • Detail oriented, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of and passion for real estate
  • Ability to travel as needed (approximately 15%)
