CopperPoint Insurance Companies is seeking a Business Center Representative responsible for Direct Channel and Agency Channel Business.  The ideal candidate will analyze business operations of current and potential policyholders by examining documentation pertinent to the risk and interviewing the Agent, owner(s) and/or corporate officers to ensure proper classification.  This process assures that the applicant’s business has been properly assessed to determine exposure and company liability under the policy.  In addition, maintain, update, make corrections and changes, including appropriate endorsements on all policies within a specific book of business. 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform sales activities that must balance effective pricing and risk selection with profit and growth. 
  • Analyze workers’ compensation accounts to make sound decisions based on individual risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and controls.
  • Recommend pricing for business per company underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Communicates with agency personnel on underwriting issues including the extension of coverage, declinations, cancellations, exposure concerns and loss control survey results.
  • Make all policy changes within a book of business, which may include ownership changes, address changes, work location changes, business operation changes, cancellation requests, review for acceptance of sole proprietor waivers, independent contractors and rejecters, etc. and make determination if an endorsement is warranted.
  • Provide guidance and education to the policyholders regarding correct reporting of gross wages, over-time, bonuses, fringe benefits, rejecters, subcontractors and casual labor as this will impact the policyholders experience modification, claims costs and overall cost of workers’ compensation insurance which ultimately affects the financial results of a policyholder.
  • Interpret and apply the Department of Insurance (DOI) guidelines, the Arizona State Statues, National Compensation Council of Insurance (NCCI) and Industrial Commission (ICA) rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • P & C license is required
  • Certificates/Designations are considered a plus, e.g.:
  • General Insurance Program (INS)
  • Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU)
  • Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
  • Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC)
