Primary Function

The Commercial Lines Specialist is responsible for production and service of commercial business for the agency.  This person is expected to handle inbound sales calls, emails, and internet leads while continually finding opportunities to generate new business.

  • Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 – 5:30pm.
  • Must be available to meet with commercial clients off-site up to 50% of the time

Essential Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise for the agency on commercial products and insurance coverages

Process and redesign marketing of the commercial renewal accounts

Analyze and customize insurance programs to suit commercial business needs, often covering a variety of risks.

Call on policyholders to deliver and explain policy

Explain features, advantages and disadvantages of various policies to promote sale of insurance plans

Select company to underwrite policy that offers type of coverage requested by client

Complete administrative tasks, such as required paperwork, maintaining logs, and handling policy renewals

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proactively build relationships and ability to gain customer commitment by recommending appropriate coverage

Timely follow-up on all new commercial leads

Competitive spirit and the drive to be at the top of the sales board

Desire to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Possess above average computer proficiency and the ability to multi-task: working on multiple internet platforms while conversing with a client and navigating our agency management system simultaneously.

Qualification Guidelines

4-year college degree or equivalent experience required

2+ years of commercial insurance sales experience

Property & Casualty License

Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) or Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) preferred.  Reimbursement is available for certification expenses!

Legal Background Requirements

Credit report with no open bankruptcies or showing delinquent debt over $50,000.

No felony convictions within the past ten years
