Key aspects of this role:

The primary responsibility of this position is managing an agency base to grow the Truck & Environmental products. This includes both Traditional and Alternative Risk Transfer (captive) marketing segments. The incumbent will have a defined set of objectives related to the growth of the business. This will include renewing existing accounts and adding new business and responsibility for maintaining current agency relationships and cultivating profitable new agency relationships.

  • Responsible for new business production, including achievement of submission, quote, and premium objectives for small and large fleet, as well as captive products.

  • In addition to new business production, responsible for working with an external agency base to renew a book of in-force business with an appropriate retention ratio; this requires the Representative to work seamlessly between internal underwriters and external agents in order to qualify sales situations, communicate expectations, deliver sales quotes, and bind business.

  • Handle agency review and analysis. This includes establishing and communicating expectations and measuring actual results/activities versus expectations. Communicate findings on a regular basis; take corrective actions, as necessary.

  • Responsible for proactive prospecting of new accounts with both agents and insureds to achieve specific production objectives.

  • Create and develop new marketing ideas/materials, as needed, to increase sales and educate others about National Interstates products.

  • Attend daily underwriting meetings to determine a specific strategy for all accounts for which the Representative is assigned.

  • Handles special projects, as assigned.

  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • P&C License required, or must be willing to obtain within first 90 days of employment
