Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association (MHA), located in Burlington, MA, is currently searching for an Employee Benefits Account Manager in its insurance agency division, MHA Solutions.  For more information, please visit us at www.mymhasolutions.com

The Employee Benefits Account Manager is responsible for the essential functions of the position, primarily aiding MHA Solutions Sales Executives and clients with service needs. It also includes maintaining up-to-date client files, renewal proposals, distribution of pertinent compliance materials and making insurance product changes to existing accounts. Specific service and marketing responsibilities are required in this position. The Employee Benefits Account Manager (EBAM) must be highly motivated, organized, eager to learn, technically savvy and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.  The successful candidate must be able to meet the service and sales delivery standards as well as perform essential functions developed by MHA Solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to Sales Executive; specifically in analyzing client needs.
  • Schedules appointments with clients as requested by Sales Executive.
  • Accompany Sales Executive on prospect and client meetings as requested by Sales Executive.
  • Completes applications in coordination with Sales Executive; submits applications to eligible and appropriate carriers; follows up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies.
  • Prepares summaries of insurance, Benefit Guides, and proposals.
  • Processes renewals in coordination with Sales Executive according to agency procedures and vendor management guidelines.
  • Reviews audits of policies; verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections, as needed, between client and carrier.
  • Verifies policy and policy change information, facilitating corrections when necessary.
    • Processes incoming mail and phone requests, responding promptly and appropriately.
    • Provides computer support to the client with regard to MHA Solutions software including the installation and on-going support of the Zywave suite of products:  MHAConnect and Broker Briefcase.
    • Work with the Sales Executive to provide appropriate content for MHA Solutions software and website.
    • Produce financial reports for staff, the Board and others.
    • Prepare and assemble all materials for client presentations including spreadsheets, benefit summaries and benefit comparisons.
    • Act as a primary contact for renewal prep, RFP process and presentation preparation.
    • Utilize the agency management system as well as iMIS to maintain accurate client files in the applicable shared drive.
    • Keep Sales Executive informed of all client related pertinent information.
    • Establish a client outreach schedule and service calendar as a means of keeping current with each client.
    • Coordinate open enrollment process with client as well as benefit fairs and health & wellness fairs.
    • Please note, these duties may be expanded upon or eliminated as determined by MHA Solutions Senior Management.

Personal and Organizational Development

  • Sets priorities and manages work flow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.
  • Maintains a cordial and effective relationship with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors and other business contacts.
  • Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislation, coverages and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
  • Interacts with others (both internally and externally) effectively by utilizing good communications skills, cooperating purposefully and providing information and guidance, as needed, to achieve the business goals of the agency.

Technology Responsibilities

  • On an as-needed basis, update MHA Solutions website using WordPress.
  • Proficient in our benefits agency management system BenefitPoint.
  • Working knowledge of our property & casualty agency management system AMS360.
  • Proficient using Zywave software.
  • Proficient using MHA’s database software, iMIS, and use as a means to cross-check client and/or member information.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 3 years’ work related experience or a minimum of 7 years’ work related experience.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively with others to explain complex issues, receives and interprets complex information, and responds appropriately.
  • Ability to understand written and oral communication and interpret abstract information.
  • Currently hold or be studying for the MA Life, Accident & Health Insurance Agent’s License.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license, access to a motor vehicle and the ability to operate such vehicle.
  • Knowledge of insurance products and usages.
  • Knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets.
  • Limited knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures.
  • Ability to carry out complex tasks with concrete and abstract variables.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Professional Suite of business software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
