Johnson Insurance, founded in 1915, is a well established and well respected independent insurance agency, with corporate headquarters in Mocksville, NC. Johnson Insurance currently operates in 9 states, with the bulk of sales occurring in NC, TN, KY, and GA.
The agency currently seeks to hire an experienced, aggressive, and growth-oriented Sales Manager to lead the agency’s Commercial and Farm/Ag Sales Team. (no Farm/Ag insurance experience is required; this knowledge base translates easily from Commercial Lines).
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and mentor team of 5-8 insurance producers
- Improve bottom line sales results by pro-actively working with all agency sales agents
- Work with the New Business Account Manager to negotiate with underwriters and develop proposals for sales agents
- Coach and mentor producers in sales techniques and technical insurance skills
- Provide positive professional development for all sales team members
- Work with sales agents and agency ownership to maintain standards of the Dynamics of Selling insurance training program
- Work with sales team and agency ownership to set and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals
- Perform regular reviews of sales agents’ performance and coach improvement where necessary
- Work both in the corporate office and in the field with producers (NC, KY, TN, GA)
- Assist in the training of new sales hires in both sales techniques and insurance product knowledge
- Work with the agency Operations Manager, to coordinate Sales/Service issues
- Facilitate positive relationships with all agency contracted insurance carriers
- Recruit and hire new sales team members in conjunction with agency ownership
- Call on and close select new business accounts as directed by agency ownership
- Act as an agency ambassador at local and regional meetings
- Develop high level contacts and relationships with key industry and sector individuals and organizations
- Deliver presentations to trade groups or other organizations that are targets for agency products
- Collaborate with agency ownership in the creation of new agency specializations or programs
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4 year college or university
- Minimum 5 years of commercial insurance sales experience
- Minimum 3 years of management experience
- Technical proficiency in all major commercial lines products
- Ability to quickly master agency products and procedures
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills
- Outgoing, engaging, and friendly personality
- Demonstrable excellent results from previous professional experiences
- Excellent references and industry contacts
- Impeccable ethics and code of moral responsibility
- Ability to maintain a flexible regional travel schedule, with overnight travel 4-5 nights/month
Compensation:
- Base salary with monthly, quarterly, and annual bonus opportunities
- Initial compensation offered will vary based on experience and ability to deliver results
